Launching Fall 2026
As an ode to his mother, Chef Jason Halverson conceived Sergeant Ma as a tribute to the strong and formidable Asian matriarch who shaped his approach to food and hospitality. Upon immigrating to America, she watched cooking shows, interpreted recipes her own way, and fed everyone with joyful abundance, making sure no one ever left hungry, whether they planned to eat or not.
After years of classic culinary training, Chef Halverson still recognizes her as his greatest culinary influence. Sergeant Ma embodies her philosophies while embracing his ongoing culinary exploration of San Francisco and California Cuisine.
